How to Vacation in the Philippines

How to Vacation in the Philippines – The Fiesta Island!

Tourists wondering how to vacation in the Philippine are often surprised to learn that this archipelago circled by the South Sea and the Pacific are considered the fiesta islands of Asia. If it’s lazing on a sun-baked beach you’re looking for or a more adventurous vacation in the Philippine islands you won’t be disappointed. Waterfalls and rapids abound for the thrill-seeker as does riveting nighttime entertainment and plenty of history and culture for the information seeker,

If you want to vacation in the Philippines remember it has been dubbed the ‘Pearl of the Orient’ and on these isles holidaymakers will find a mix of eastern and western culture that is both refreshing and endearing. From its food and people to the public mode of transport called ‘Jeepneys,’ (adapted from U.S. Army jeeps) there are surprises at every turn. To vacation in the Philippine requires letting go of preconceived notions and letting the senses take control.

Accommodation isn’t a problem when you vacation in the Philippine and there are a variety of excellent restaurants, modern shopping centers when combined with its numerous natural attractions make the archipelago a must-see destination. Most tourists visit the city of Manila – also called the ‘Walled City’, sample the nightlife in Malate and do some exotic shopping in Makati. If you want to vacation in the Philippine forget your waistline as we are headed to Boracay next.

Boracay is an island in Aklan Province and a vacation in the Philippine isn’t complete until you’ve been there. To get there head to Kalibo airport and ride by van to Caticlan. A boat will ferry you to Boracay. There are plenty of things to do on this paradise island. If you simply want to do nothing you can spend your days on the beach. To vacation in the Philippine you will need to give your emotions over to whatever each island has to offer. For the more adventurous traveler there is sailing or snorkeling to enjoy. A small island nearby is home to the crystal caves if you fancy a sightseeing expedition.

A vacation in the Philippines means getting to sample some great food from a wide variety of cultures. The cuisine on Boracay is a mix of Filipino, American, Italian, Mexican, Greek and Indian. There are also Korean and German restaurants on the island to enjoy when you vacation in the Philippine. For a night on the town try Pier 1 and Summer Place. At Nigi Nigi – a tiny bar – sample some long island iced tea – served in a jar!

To vacation in the Philippine island of Cebu holidaymakers can take a plane to Mactan International Airport and on to Cebu and Cebu city where there are both public and private resorts to enjoy. Cebu City is a clean city with all the modern conveniences you need or want. At the same time it has an old-fashioned feel to it. If you vacation in the Philippine and want to get away from the crowds Cebu city is the place to go.

A visit to Palawan Province will enable you to see the city of Puerto Princesa a quiet city which is not very tourist oriented and retains the simple ways of Asia. If you are feeling adventurous you should visit the Palawan Underground River. You’ll find it about two hours north of the city. The river is found inside a cave and is one of the longest navigable underground rivers in the world. The rock formations beg to be photographed so bring your camera along. If you want to vacation in the Philippines make sure you’re prepared for anything!

A visit to Honda Bay is another choice way to vacation in the Philippine. If you want to test out your snorkeling skills take a guided tour to Snake Island and Starfish Island for some great views of the underwater world. Costabella Beach Resort

We stayed at Costabella Beach Resort in Mactan Island, Cebu. If you wanna stay away from the crowd, this is the place for you, but if you are a party person, go to Boracay instead…..lol. The resort is really private and rest assured that there are no vendors/sellers lurking around.

Waterfront Hotel and Casino

In Cebu City, we stayed at The Waterfront Hotel and Casino. It is a huge hotel I must say, and a nice one. It is near the Business Park where the “mall” is….hehe. This is also where we spent my birthday, which I must say again, the best one ever.

Unfortunately, we forgot to take some pictures of the Cebu Midtown Hotel where we also stayed and The Fleuris Hotel in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

Hotel Fleuris is a small and cozy hotel and of course the local staff are very nice and hospitable. We enjoyed our stay there!
