Many parent’s worry about their children staying on the right track when it comes to their school work. Many children want to excel but there is a huge number that are failing or that are barely getting by. This mainly is due to a lack of motivation and not completing all of their school work. Too often though parents are clueless until report cards come out. One way to change that though is to monitor your child’s academic progress online.
These days so much of what we do can be accessed online, and that includes your child’s academic information. It is fast and easy to set up an account and it is also free once your school is set up on the system. Teachers will enter their grades into the computer and you can see what grade your child got on their tests and assignments. You can also monitor their attendance, semester grades, and class schedule.
Many of these online programs are also featuring a calendar of events as well. Teachers have found it helps parents to motivate their kids and to know what is due. For example they can look on the calendar to see that a book report is due on Friday. That heads up is better than discovering the following Monday that their child didn’t complete that assignment from the week before.
While each program for monitoring academics online can be different, they are all the same in various ways. There should be some type of tutorial that you can use to help you figure out the navigation process. Many schools even offer a short workshop on it and a sign up option when parents are registering their students for classes.
This process allows parents to see what is going on from the very start. Students that aren’t completing assignments on time will get zeros. When parents see those zeros though they are going to step in and work with the teacher and the student to ensure that doesn’t continue to happen. For parents that want to be more involved this is definitely the way to do it.
Many students are upset that parents are able to monitor their progress online. However, if the students are doing what they should be then there should be no need for concern on their end. Parents have every right to make sure their children get a solid education. This is just one more way to help make sure that can happen. You can log into the program as many times per week as you want depending on what the situation is with your child.
If the school your child attends doesn’t offer this benefit, contact the administration and find out why not. There are many different programs out there and you can encourage your local schools to implement one of them. You can also bring up the topic at the next school board meeting. This is a valuable resource that will help parents, help the students, and ultimately help the school so it can be a winning situation for everyone that is involved.
