Throughout the years there have been men like Nostradamus who said they could predict the world’s future, yet we are more interested in seeing our own personal future. For this reason, we do not look at men like Nostradamus for the answers; we look close to ourselves, to those who say they know how to read our individual future through tarot cards.
There are several theories about the history of tarot cards though none of these are a certainty. The first time we hear about the tarot is in a sermon that dates back to around 1450 to 1470. The sermon was contained in the Steele Manuscript and was found in Italy. It lists the reasons why games of chance are not desirable. It details the tarot trump cards.
Choosing a tarot card deck need not be difficult. Because learning to read tarot cards can be tricky at first it’s best to start simply. If you are a beginner and have never read the cards before we suggest you start with the Waite-Rider deck. This is widely acknowledged as the easiest tarot deck to work with.
Cartomancy, also known as metasymbology, is a form of divination or fortune telling using a deck of cards and has been in existence as early as the fourteenth century. Fortune telling is the act of predicting one’s future through supernatural or mystical rituals. And divination, which is similar, but the interpretations are ascertained through the use of portents or omens in a religious context.
