Many people sell items on eBay for a little extra cash and to get rid of the loads of clutter that we all tend to accumulate, but for some, trading on eBay has become full time job. With a little practice you can sell items on eBay and maybe turn it into a thriving home business opportunity.
These days many people, from housewives to budding entrepreneurs, have found a quick and easy income by buying and selling all sorts of goods on eBay, and why not? Think about it – what better way to earn extra cash while sitting at home on the computer waiting for somebody to fill your pocket – not a bad way to earn a living, I am sure you’ll agree! Here is some general information on how to sell items on eBay.
There is no limit to the kind of items you will find a market for on eBay. Do you have loads of baby clothes cluttering up your closet, unwanted artwork, toys or memorabilia? You can even buy and sell electronic items or cars on eBay! There is a buyer out there for almost any product and selling items on eBay is really simple and user-friendly.
Buyers like you and me browse eBay round-the-clock looking for just such unwanted items at a bargain price and you may have just the thing they are looking for. The crux of the matter is – you won’t know until you try – whether that old TV is the classic retro item on the top of somebody’s list or if that old action figure from 1981 is just the nostalgic treat someone has searched high and low for – so why not go ahead and sign up?
How to Sell Items on eBay
Below you will find a step-by-step guide that will tell you everything you need to know to start selling online:
1) The first thing you need to do is to register with eBay and it won’t cost you a cent to do so! Simply sign up with eBay!
2) Next you can go ahead and set up a sellers account. To do this you will need to have a bank account and a credit card to make sure everybody is well protected and secure during their online selling. Read the ‘user agreement’ to make sure you understand what you are signing up for before you do.
3) Now you need to make the items you want to sell on eBay seem as attractive as possible and including a photograph is probably the best way to do this. Many people won’t buy what they can’t see on principle and if no picture is provided they simply move on to one that they can see. Don’t lose sales because you neglect to give potential customers a visual image to work from. Remember that when you sell items on eBay you are competing with a million others trying to do the same thing.
If you don’t own a camera, borrow one from a friend. You will soon earn enough money from sales to buy one of your own (on eBay of course!).
Along with your photograph, you will need to include a title and description of your item and you should try to make it a catchy one for example don’t call your item Mickey Mouse lamp call it Classic Disney Lamp Magic – you get the idea.
Can I Sell Items on eBay for Free?
You will be charged a fee to place your item on a list and a second fee once you actually sell your item. Don’t be put off by this as they really are pretty reasonable and won’t interfere too much with your profit. You can get a list of applicable fees on the eBay Web site (details of which I will share with you later).
What Can eBay Offer Me?
The site contains some nifty features like the eBay ‘seller tools’ that gives you some handy resources to help you sell your products including tools for making multiple listings, keeping track of your sales and exporting your eBay sales information to a program like QuickBooks! If you sell cars and trucks on eBay there is a tool called CARad just for you.
No matter what you are looking to sell there is probably a section for it on eBay. Even though it does cost a small amount to sell items on eBay, you can actually make a pretty good living by just buying up unwanted items and re-selling them on eBay. Make a start by visiting the eBay site but be warned the potential to become an auction addict is overwhelming!
By all means, sell items on eBay but don’t let it take over your life! Happy selling!
